‘The Land Before Time: Lesson 1, Self Love’ 2020 Soundtrack. As Part of Ongoing Film and Installation. The Land Before Time is a course initiated by Tefnut. Silent Songstress. Lesson 1, Self Love a listening experience boldly acts as a self help tape. To be paired with moving image as part of an installation. This soundtrack and its fragmented conversation has been created to reckon with the audiences internal and external spatial awareness. It will be played through speakers encompassing the space to immerse the audience. Multiple voices and identities strike relation to Lacan’s theory ‘Mirror Stage’ and its understandings of Self Alienation. The dialogue heightens awareness of sense of self in space. Honing in and out on the physicality of oneself, through guided ritual-like prayer. Asking questions of and to space. This conversation suggests a fight for existence. It sifts through this ambivalence of feeling grounds in the hyperawareness of self, through contemplative meditation. As well as creating the potential to transcend this, and relate to an(other).

Ratiba Ayadi is a multimedia and performance artist who’s work takes form of a spiritual and bodily practice. Examining the relationship between consciousness and the purpose of human existence. By using her body as an antenna to an altitude of frequencies in the quotidian, to gain experiential understanding. She regurgitates these experiences to amplify the possibility of alternate divine ideals. By honing in on romantic writing ideals and ambient sound as a silent songstress her work informs something like a guided meditational, ritual-like experience. Honest in her uncertainty on this voyage she continues to play the role of the alchemist in order to devise a universal elixir.
